Short Course on

Solar PV Power Systems: Concepts, Operation & Applications
August 24-25-26, Hotel Peppermint, Jaipur, Rajasthan


Given its unique geographical advantages, Rajasthan is emerging as a major destination for solar PV investment and solar power plants activity in India.

The short course, to be held in Jaipur, entitled "Solar PV Power Systems: Design Concepts & Applications" is designed to provide attendees a basic understanding of, and introduction to, PV technology, PV systems and components, grid connected solar PV plants and principles of operation.

Attendees may be:

  • Practicing engineers, keen to get involved in solar/PV activity
  • Engineers from adjacent electronics industries with an interest in solar PV technology and plants
  • Graduate engineers with a keen interest in understanding and working in the area of solar PV technology, systems and applications

Please note that while there will be some introductory content, the program is targeted mainly for a technical audience.

Short Course Content

The short course will cover concepts of solar radiation and monitoring, basics of solar PV cells & modules, DC-DC & DC-AC power electronics, batteries & storage systems, grid connected inverters, types of PV power systems - concepts & applications and balance of systems.

About the Organisers

The National Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE) at IIT Bombay was launched in 2010 as a part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission of the Government of India. The objective of the centre is to be the one of the leading PhotoVoltaic (PV) research and education centres in the world within the next decade.
